Two productions in the field of urban representation applied to the City of Madrid are introduced here. They may be understood as partial “portrayals” of two monumental areas, the Prado- Recoletos Axis and Gran Via. The conceptual unit is established on the basis of two mixed considerations: on the one side, the possibilities of action in the context of new graphic media and the ancient purposes of drawing; on the other side, the relationship between research and dissemination in the field of urban cartography in a broader sense.
