Enforcing scenario-based training to enhance chemical defense and health service support capacities

Abstract

Scenario-based training (SBT) is an effective means to improve the quality of military training.Chemical defense medicine, as an integral element in chemical, biological radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense, plays a pivotal role in the organization and training of military forces to counteract weapons of massive destruction. SBT for chemical defense medicine, and CBRN defense medicine as well, should establish specific regulations, guidelines, doctrines and corresponding administration mechanisms. Special attention should be paid to the key issues in SBT, including the coaching staff and the methods, safety and evaluation of training. Investigation of the practices of SBT in foreign armies and international organizations will help to improve the quality of SBT for health service support of our military forces.
