Despite the complex categorization of discourse markers in German Philology (Blühdorn 2016), these elements are currently among the most investigated phenomena in pragmatics. In order to determine the knowledge and use by students of German as a Foreign Language this study examines the production of discourse markers by learners based on a online learning e-tandem program. The investigation is based on the assumption that students with competence levels between A1-B1 usually do not make a proper use of markers, which prevents a complete development of the discourse topic and framework.
