Possibilities for a specific post-emergence weed control in winter oilseed rape
Abstract
Possibilities for a specific post-emergence weed control in winter oilseed rape had been tested on the basis of 199 field trials carried out from 2006 until 2013. The weed infestation found in the trials was typical for crop rotations such as oilseed rape. Similar weed infestation have been discribed by other authors and seems to be representative for Lower Saxony. Geranium sp. and Sisymbrium officinale as difficult to control weed species have been found in more than 20% of the field trails. Most of the weed species being found can be controlled by post-emergence herbicide application. Weed control measures can be carried out as a sequence of two separate applications, first application at early postemergence with an herbicide including Metazachlor followed by a specific second application. A one-time application with only one herbicide or a herbicide tank-mixture is also possible. The most important herbicides for a specific post-emergence weed control are currently Effigo, Fox, Stomp aqua and Runway. The approval of Salsa is pending but would improve the options for a specific control of typical weeds in winter oilseed rape.
