Abstract
El artículo proviene de los resultados obtenidos en la tesis de grado de la carrera Licenciatura en Geografía, de la Universidad Nacional del Comahue en 2011. En la misma se estudia de manera integral el conflicto social en torno al yacimiento minero de Campana Mahuida, provincia de Neuquén, que surgió en 2007 como producto de la intención de una empresa china de iniciar acciones de exploración y posibles acciones de explotación minera, y la comunidad local que manifestó su claro rechazo al proyecto. En caso de dar inicio al mismo, se podía convertir en el primer emprendimiento minero a cielo a abierto de la provincia de Neuquén. Se hace hincapié en el surgimiento y evolución del conflicto social acaecido. Sobre la base de una puja de poder dispar entre una empresa mega minera que cuenta con el apoyo del gobierno local y provincial y, un grupo heterogéneo de pobladores, se focaliza la red de vínculos que va forjando la población local logrando apoyo y adhesión, y constituyendo una resistencia contra el proyecto minero. Se detalla su accionar tanto a nivel local como provincial así como su enfrentamiento judicial, donde se pone en evidencia la disputa por su territorio y sus recursos naturales así como el futuro de su población. Además, quedan reflejadas posturas muy dispares que responden a intereses diversos así como a una mirada distinta en cuanto a la naturaleza y a la vinculación con ella. ABSTRACT This article is part of the results obtained in the Graduate Thesis in Geography at Comahue University in 2011. The social conflict around the mining site of Campana Mahuida, province of Neuquén, is studied in an integral way. This conflict emerged in 2007 as a result of the intention of a Chinese company to initiate exploration actions and possible mining activities, and the local community expressed its clear rejection of the project. In case of starting it, it could become the first open-pit mining project in the province of Neuquén. The emphasis is placed on the emergence and evolution of the social conflict that has taken place. Based on a power struggle between a mega mining company that has the support of local and provincial government and a heterogeneous group of inhabitants, the focus is placed on the network of links that the local population forges by fostering support and adherence, and constituting resistance against the mining project. The analysis details its actions both at the local and provincial level, and its judicial confrontation, which highlights the dispute over the territory and natural resources as well as the future of its population. In addition, very different positions are reflected that respond to diverse interests and that reveal different perspectives regarding nature and people´s relationship with it.
