The Romanian community on the territory of Serbia is a historical community that is ethnically artificially divided because of the non-recognition of the Vlach-Romanian synonymy. The tendency of the Serbian state to maintain and use the term „vlah” to designate all Romanians in Timoc was a hindrance to the identity recognition of the Timochean Romanians as a national minority and the gaining of specific rights. The objectives of this article are to show how the difference between the two large Romanian communities in Vojvodina and Timoc has been created and maintained from a historical, demographic perspective, minority issues and socio-political-cultural organization, highlighting the problems faced by the community Timoc, and how did Romania get involved in supporting this community.
