Three Portraits of N. A. Demidov by French Painter L. Tocqué: On the Issue of the Ural Factory Owner’s Socio-Cultural Image
Abstract
The article considers issues connected with the socio-cultural image of Ural factory owners and its transformation in the mid-18th century referring to N. A. Demidov. The author studies the social and financial status and cultural level of Nikita Akinfievich in the 1750-1760s, analyzing the artistic features, backgrounds and circumstances behind the creation of the factory owner’s portraits painted by the famous court artist L. Tocqué. The author explores the history of A.N. Demidov’s and N. A. Demidov’s portraits in Nizhny Tagil and concludes that the emergence and existence of these paintings can be regarded
