This study is about Salgado Lagoon, the anthropic action in its Protected Coastal Zone over the years and the possible impacts arising from urbanization occurred in the Açu Superport and in future enterprises in its region, by making a comparative analysis with the case of the Vigário Lagoon in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, which suffers problems caused by an uncontrolled growth and lack of planning. The occurrence of recent stromatolites, only found in South America, included the Salgado Lagoon as a geo-paleontological site in UNESCO World Heritage list, which makes the problem even more relevant. Consequently, urgent and drastic measures must be taken to protect this geological-paleontological site.
