STRESS ANALYSIS IN THE TRANSVERSE FILLET WELD JOINTS
Abstract
In the transverse fillet welds under tensile loads, distributions of stresses are analyzed in the weld region by the finite element method. Two types of transverse fillet welds, one is subjected to sliding action at root of the weld, the other is subjected to tearing action at the root. The problem is treated as a plane stress state. Stress distributions in weld regions are presented by distributions of legs and the throat.
