Study on the Preparation and Properties of Seal Coatings Based on the Silicone Resin
Abstract
In order to develop the low-temperature sealing coating composed of metal-free fillers used for aeroengine and improve the service temperature of seal coating on aeroengine, a coating based the methyl-phenyl silicone resin was prepared. The methyl-phenyl silicone resin with high thermal stability was synthesized by co-hydrolysis of the mixture chloro-silane. In addition, the chemistry structure, curing behavior and thermal stability were characterized by FTIR, DSC and TGA. The optimal compositions of the coating were silicone: graphite: boron nitride: asbestos = 20: 15: 5: 15 (mass ratio). The sealing coating was prepared based the methyl-phenyl silicone resin with some fillers including of asbestos, BN and graphite, and the performance was comprehensively analyzed. Results showed that the bonding strength of the coating still reached up to 10 MPa after aging for 100 h at 400 ℃. The coating had good thermal shock resistance, and the number of hot and cold cycles between 400 ℃ and room temperature could reach more than 50 times. Besides, according to test validation, the properties of the coating could be satisfied with demand of a certain aeroengine.
