This essay presents some methodological aspects regarding the documentation of Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) which will be developed at the project Inventory of Brazilian Sign Language at the MetropolitanRegion of Palmas –Tocantins. We first point out some issues on Librasand Sign Language documentation. We present the methodology of data gathering, transcription and analysis of the inventory of Brazilian Sign Language of the Metropolitan Region of Palmas –Tocantins. The inventory of Libras at Palmas Region aims at creating a representative corpusof Librasof Tocantins State. Thus, this is a replication project of the Brazilian Sign Language Inventory in this state, as proposed the matrix project, settled at Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). That is the reason why we adopt the same methodological procedures of the matrix project, in order to compare data collected in Tocantins and other states in Brazil.
