La pisciculture au Cameroun: une démarche individuelle! Cas de la commune de Bertoua 1 dans la région Est du Cameroun
Abstract
Aquaculture in Cameroon: An Individual Approach! Case of Bertoua 1 Municipality in the Eastern Region of Cameroon This article describes the fish farming practices in Cameroon and analyzes the relationships between actors ofaquaculture policy in the eastern region of Cameroon (municipality of Bertoua 1).The analysis of practices, fishing constraints, their causes and their effects allowed to identify the actors of aquaculture policy, their objectives, and their interactions. It appears that the collaboration between actors in aquaculture policy is not always good or effective. The perceptions of the actors are not the same. The fish project remains an individual initiative despite the interactions that exist between fish farming and the other sectors of activity with which it shares the water and land resources. The role of the State is crucial in providing fish farmers with financial security, tenure security, better training and a solid professional framework. This is partly recommended by the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy and the National Aquaculture Strategy since 2003. Under the conditions of a weak and non-integrated partnership approach between the actors of aquaculture policy, the sustainable development of this sub-sector could not be ensured.
