ORDINATION OF THE MAIN PARAMETERS OF FAÇADE FORMS

Abstract

The article is a search for applications for Rene Descartes theory of graphic representation of numbers to the analysis of proportional construction of façade compositions in classicist architecture. The focus is on the identification of commensurate square fields in planar units facilitating façade form arrangements. The result of the search is contours of planar units related to the spatial and variable-scale aspects of a façade composition analyzed. An example of proportional façade arrangement analysis illustrates the effectiveness and validity of the author's theory of initial linear measures for practical applications. It is demonstrated that contours of planar units may be constructed by geometrical and integer methods, thus confirming the author’s hypothesis of a rational nature of compositional forms in classicist architecture.
