Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of sonophoresis vitamin E on postinflammatory hyperpigmentation after facial second degree burn. Methods All the 36 patients with facial second degree treated in our hospital between September 2019 and September 2020 were recruited in this study. Twenty-four of them were randomly assigned into the observation group (n=12) and the control group (n=12), and the other 12 who refused treatment were automatically assigned to the blank control group (n=12). The observation group was treated with vitamin E (0.5~1 mL, twice per day) by sonophoresis (frequency 1 MHz, intensity 0.8 W/cm2, twice per day), while the control group was only treated with vitamin E, and the blank control group was not treated with vitamin E. And the 3 groups of patients followed strictly physical sunscreen for facial skin. After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment, the curative effects were observed and compared among the 3 groups. Results After 2 weeks, the total effective rate was 83.33% in the observation group, 66.67% in the control group, and 8.33% in the blank control group; And significant difference in the rate was observed among the 3 groups (P=0.001). In 4 weeks after treatment, the total effective rate was 83.33% in both the observation group and the control group, obviously higher than that of the blank control group (25.00%, P=0.011). The observation group obtained less pigment area and weaker pigment intensity when compared the other 2 groups in 2 and 4 weeks after treatment (P 0.05). Conclusion Vitamin E though sonophoresis can effectively improve the postinflammatory hyperpigmentation and shorten the effective time for facial burn.
