Financement complémentaire et paiements pour les services environnementaux de la future réserve marine régionale du Prêcheur (Martinique)

Abstract

The article presents the different options of complementary financing and their feasibility in the context of the implementation of the future marine protected area of Le Prêcheur in Martinique. It highlights an estimation of the financial contribution of the various relevant financing options in the reserve of Le Prêcheur, while acknowledging the need for further analysis. It also introduces the concept of ‘payment for ecosystem services’ which could be applied to involve fishermen in the process of scientific monitoring and ecotourism development. The article is based on the results of studies conducted at the scale of Martinique between 2011 and 2016.
