NO RASTRO DO KATRINA: A CONSTRUÇÃO DE UM DISCURSO DE VERDADE
Abstract
This article examines a set of texts consisting of messages exchanged among members of an online discusison list on urban legends, in which they comment the passage of the hurricane Katrina on the East Coast of the United States in 2005. The analysis focuses on the way rumors and facts are intertwined in a regime of truth which takes historically constructed utterances on issues such as fear and racism and re-signifies them in response to the event in question.
