The pedagogical activities of three Italian vocal teachers – Domenico Delfino, Federico Bugamelli and Ettore Gandolfi in Ukraine have been investigated in the present paper. After finishing their professional career, each of them was invited to teach solo singing at the newly founded music institutions in Kyiv, Odessa, and Kharkov at the beginning of twentieth century. Effective teaching methods, used by the Italian teachers, allowed each of them to gain fame and create their own vocal school in Ukraine. They trained a generation of gifted opera and concert singers who shone on the main stages of the former USSR, and some of them, having completed their stage performances, while teaching in conservatories, effectively introduced and supplemented their Italian professors’ vocal training methods. Thus, the achievements of the Italian school of classical singing became the basis of the Ukrainian vocal school.
