Applicability of XRF technique to Rb-Sr chemical dating of K-bearing minerals

Abstract

The possibility of Rb-Sr chemical dating for K-bearing micas by XRF method has been considered by analogy with a CHIME (CHemical Isochronal MEthod) for monazites. Minimal possibly detected ages are estimated based on analytical characteristics of XRF method. The problems of the dating method application due to the presence of no radiogenic Sr are discussed. The first results of the Rb-Sr chemical dating are presented.
