The quality of life in cities is also related to afforestation, which can provide a healthy environment, beauty, among other advantages. Inadequate urban afforestation is a problem especially in accelerated and disorderly urbanization, in the absence of public power and lack of planning. It is necessary to know to urbanize, and thus, to do a good planning, avoiding problems in the future, that will affect the environment and the population. The work was carried out in Maribondo, Alagoas, from January to March 2015, aiming to diagnose, quantify and qualify the plants, including verifying their influence on sidewalks and the electric grid. It was found 254 specimens, 184 trees and 70 shrubs, in 17 species in a municipality with a ratio of 0.02 trees by people in the urban zone in a tropical climate with dry season, affecting the quality of life of the population. The most common families were Araceae and Fabaceae, two species each, but the largest number of specimens was from the Moraceae family. 29.41% of species are native and 70.59% exotic. The residents are unhappy due to the scarcity of trees and the damage caused to the sidewalks and the electricity grid. The few specimens, the little diversity and the wrong choice of plants made the environment monotonous and uncomfortable.
