The ANIC neighbourhood in Pisticci. From company town to regenerative Hub for a necessary transition

Abstract

This contribution focusses on the critical reading of the A.N.I.C. (former National Hydrogenation Fuel Company) neighbourhood in Pisticci (Mt), a model of a working-class neighbourhood envisaged by Enrico Mattei in the 1960s. It is an interesting collective and spatial system that ‘breaks’ the traditional social structure of Lucania Materana. The ANIC, now almost completely abandoned, can be rethought in an ecosystemic vision as a regenerative microcosm that becomes a working method, a method that, starting from Pisticci, aims to reimagine the reasons for the development of an entire territory and give life to a project that is rooted in the great political challenges that contemporaneity is preparing to face.
