In this paper, we study the orography of the mental landscape that the Mexican poet Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz presents in her poem Primero sueño (First dream). We propose a review that starts from verses 310-326, in which the soul is placed on a high mountain, whose hyperbolic height is compared to other mountains. We analyze the mythographic tradition that supports the presence of the three elements of comparison, which are related to Greco-Latin mythology, Atlas, Olympus and a volcano, which we show must be Mount Etna. We establish the links with elements that acquire a symbolic meaning in the poem: the triads, verticality, transgression and the desire to know. The discussion with the previous comments and studies on this passage completes our contribution.
