Abstract: Albert Camus' novel The Plague enjoyed a resurgence of popularity in 2020 due to its symbolism, exacerbated by the tragic losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic around the world. The book poignantly describes the devastation caused by a plague outbreak in the city of Oran, closely reminiscent of contemporary suffering during the global pandemic. Readers sought to learn from it to better understand and avoid health complications. As history shows, no isolated nation can stand alone against pandemics; global cooperation is essential to ensure health security. Just as the fight against epidemics requires collective action between scientists, laboratories and nations, the novel helped inspire this cooperation to overcome the pandemic.
