Since its little more than 30 years of existence, slam has presented itself as an extremely democratic poetry practice, a place open up to multiple cultural manifestations and a scene for those who want to express themselves freely. This practice had started in big urban centers and is happens in the middle of squares and parks, being often marginalized, hence is rarely possible for these experiences to be transformed into statistical data and numbers. Due to its multifaceted and fluid character, most part of the records is found in way of participants' narratives or videos of the performances. We decided to stick to a bibliographic analysis of the small but useful documented material on the topic. It’s based on these materials that we propose to conceptualize and discuss this discursive /poetic/textual genre, to talk about the relationship between school reading and the withdrawal of young people from it, and to propose means for slam to bring slam to schools, in order to enable young people to find in this practice a space of prominence, of (re)discoveries and expression of their own subjectivity, using themes specific to slam or creating their own themes, whether due to the demands pointed out from the reality itself or external demands, through writing, speaking and performance.
