CONSEQUENCES OF DIGITALIZATION OF THE ECONOMY FOR EMPLOYMENT OF THE POPULATION
Abstract
This article examines the impact of the development of digital information technologies on the labor market and employment. The impact of the digital economy on territories with a relatively low standard of living and high unemployment is analyzed separately. The author presents data on the state of the process of digitalization of the Russian economy and concludes that there is a high level of information infrastructure development, while at the same time there is a strong gap in the level of digitalization between regions. When assessing the impact of the development of Internet technologies on employment, two main consequences are identified: reducing the impact of geographical factors on supply and demand in the labor market and involving previously unoccupied social groups in the production process. The rapid development of the digital economy and the accelerated industrialization of digital technologies such as the Internet, big data, and cloud computing have led to further improvements in computing power, significant reductions in computing costs, a significant leap in data analysis and processing capabilities, and an increasing number of routine tasks. The purpose of the study is to analyze and evaluate the effects of digitalization of the economy on employment. Method or methodology of the work: the research used both General scientific and private scientific methods: formal-logical research methods (method of induction, deduction, analogy, synthesis, comparison, observation, description, systematization), formal-legal, historical-legal, comparative-legal, institutional, system analysis. Results: the paper analyzes current global economic and technological trends that affect the transformation of the labor market and the formation of new socio-economic relations in the context of the digital economy. This article examines the impact of the development of digital information technologies on the labor market and employment. The impact of the digital economy on territories with a relatively low standard of living and high unemployment is analyzed separately. Attention is drawn to changes in the nature of work and forms of work, requirements for professional skills. It is shown how changes related to the digitalization of the economy directly affect the issues of training and retraining of the most popular specialists. Forecast scenarios for the digital future of the labor market are presented. The author presents data on the state of the process of digitalization of the Russian economy and concludes that there is a high level of information infrastructure development, while at the same time there is a strong gap in the level of digitalization between regions. Scope of the results: the results of the study can be used in the activities of public authorities at all levels to develop and adjust programs for further development of the labor market and prevention of unemployment.
