Optical tunable modulator based on graphene metamaterials at terahertz communication range
Abstract
An optical graphene-based external modulator has been proposed. Through the destructive interference of excited optical modes, an obvious plasmon-induced transparency effect can be achievable. By adjusting the physical parameters of graphene patterned structure, we select a structural parameter with excellent performance. The design structure has an excellent external modulation effect, so this design can be competent for the optical tunable modulator. Our structure can achieve the tuning effect without changing the structural parameters compared with the discontinuous graphene-based structure. The theoretical fitting data that we deduced are in agreement with the numerical simulation results. These results may provide some ideas and basic research for the tunable optical modulation device.
