Supratentorial subdural hematoma after surgery for vestibular schwannoma: Case report and literature review
Abstract
Supratentorial acute subdural hematoma (SASDH) after surgery for an infratentorial lesion is rare. Most cases are experienced after microvascular decompression surgery. To our knowledge, there has been only one reported case of SASDH after surgery for an infratentorial lesion including a vestibular schwannoma. Here, we present a rare case of SASDH after removal of vestibular schwannoma, in which the hematoma was successfully removed immediately after the initial suboccipital surgery. During the craniotomy, a small abnormal blood vessel formation was identified on the brain surface as a possible source of the subdural bleeding.
