The mining of thick coal seam is different from the mining of general thick coal seam. The thickness of the first mining is increased, which makes the space of overlying strata rotary movement increase, and it is easy to induce more intense mine pressure. Based on this, the monitoring results of the stress of the 201 thick coal seam face in Xiagou Coal Mine show that the influence range of the bearing pressure of the working face is about 101 m in front of the working face, the obvious influence range is 52.9 m, and the violent influence range is 32.4 m; at present, the coal pillar in the 20 m section of the working face is within the peak stress, but from the perspective of the recovery of resources, the size of the coal pillar can be further reduced. According to the results of numerical simulation, combined with the distribution law of supporting pressure in the working face, the reasonable size of coal pillar in the working face section is 7 m.
