Marine Navigation Special Names

Abstract

The article discusses issues of structuring the denotative class of “wind”, a fragment of scientific periphery, during its construction at the end of XVII – XIX centuries. Conceptualization features of the noted object characteristics are studied. Newly constructed in the marine professional sphere special names for “wind” are described, as being dependent on its (wind) direction regarding the ship hull. Variants of special names are discovered and their stabilization tendencies are noted.
