A Psychological Analysis of the Rites of Hajj

This descriptive-analytical research, conducted to investigate the role of the rites of Hajj in human's psychological dimensions, examined the rites of Hajj and their effectiveness on pilgrim's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions. The results showed that the rites of Hajj can mean all behaviors, strength religious and civilizational identity, and deepen religious knowledge in terms of cognitive dimension. Regarding emotional dimension, the rites of Hajj can increase the sense of calmness, strength the level of dependence on God, and increase the sense of pilgrim's esteem. In the case of behavioral dimension, the rites of Hajj can cause pilgrim to kindly behave with others, strength his/her sympathetic behaviors, reduce many abnormal and unethical behaviors, and cause pilgrim to control him/herself much better.
