NARCOTERORISMUL MANIFESTAT ÎN MEDIUL VIRTUAL
Abstract
The aim of this research is to show why narcoterrorism is a real form of terrorism, although some authors consider it only a more violent manifestation of organized crime, and why its manifestation in the virtual environment is very dangerous for naive young people. The research is descriptive because it shows how narcoterrorism has evolved and how it has begun to manifest itself through YouTube or other networks, but also because it shows how the video content, that the leaders posted on YouTube influences young South Americans to be on the side of the cartels, to the detriment of the Mexican state. Basically, these manifestations are different from the usual acts of terrorism, because, even if there is an illegal act of violence, directed against civilians or non-combatants, which also has the objective of intimidating the population or governments, the purpose is not always political or financial. Moreover, this manifestation has roots in the virtual space, attracting more and more supporters among the young people, who most likely become warriors in the private armies of the groups. These armies come to control areas where the state administration is eliminated and sometimes carry out attacks to show that they can do what they want and evade the law. One such concrete example is represented by the bombings in the city of Culican after the arrest of Ovidio Guzman, the son of leader El Chapo Guzman. Although the young mobster had to spend many years in prison, he was released to the authorities in order for the attacks to stop. The result of the research was that although an atypical form of terrorism, narcoterrorism, in my opinion, can be considered terrorism. The reason behind this ideea, is that the state may become incapable of exercising its powers and thus the groups end up applying their own law. There are also many extremely violent attacks, which will be detailed in the research.
