The purpose of this article is to analyze the effect of pandemics and temperature on the profitability of companies, in a comparison of the energy sector in Brazil, versus companies in general. The analysis period was from 2011 to 2020, using profitability indicators as dependent variables of a multiple linear regression with panel data. The results show that the temperature variable has a positive relationship with ROE in the energy sector. Macroeconomic data were also used as control variables, GDP, IPCA, and Selic, and it was found that IPCA has a negative relationship with profitability variables, while the price of electricity has a positive relationship with the profitability of companies in the sector. The pandemic variable was significant for two of the models used, so that for the energy sector the relationship was positive and for the sectors in general, negative.
