Zoology in the Islamic History of Natural Sciences

Abstract

The understanding of a civilizations knowledge and expertise results in knowing the core of that civilization. Therefore to understand the Islamic civilization, a special attention should be paid to study the knowledge and the advancements developed in that civilization. The Islamic civilization is based on understanding and reason. For Muslims, to know God, it is necessary to know nature. Therefore, Muslims study and research all fields of the natural history, including zoology. In case of zoology, Muslims have produced numerous achievements, which will be discussed in this article.
