This review paper synthesizes current research on the response of steel columns to blast loading, integrating insights from a wide spectrum of investigations. It encompasses diverse methodologies such as finite element analyses employing ABAQUS for fully constrained steel connections, nonlinear dynamic simulations for wide-flange frameworks, and innovative load path strategies. Key considerations include the effects of axial loads, the influence of strain rates, and strategies for bolstering structural integrity in blast scenarios. Experimental analyses and probabilistic models further illuminate mechanisms of post-blast damage and assess probabilities of failure. Studies on thermal dynamics and blast interactions underscore their combined effect on structural robustness. These discoveries collectively advance methodologies for designing blast-resistant steel structures, providing critical perspectives for enhancing safety in hazardous settings. Additionally, the paper identifies avenues for future research aimed at refining design protocols and propelling the field of blast-resistant steel structures forward.
