Status Quo der Weiterbildung in deutschen Bibliotheken

Abstract

To cope with social and technical developments as well as a changed understanding of services, new fields of action emerge in libraries. The due change processes need to be supported by professional development measures such as continuing education and training. Against the backdrop of increasing shortage of skilled workers, particularly in the service sector, professional development is a central aspect of organiational development to attract, keep and professionally develop employees. Nevertheless, the actual number of staff training days in German libraries falls short of the recommendations of the library assocations.
