In Santa Catarina, Águas Mornas city has 93% of German immigrants in its population. Is a city known for its natural beauty and thermal waters but little is known about the local gastronomy. The objective of this study was to recognize the local gastronomic identity to strengthen it. Eight semi- structured interviews were performed with the old descendants, through the Oral Story method. The interviews were fully transcribed for qualitative analysis of the speeches focused on life stories and family recipes. Results show typical recipes from the German gastronomy, learned with mothers or grandmothers with few changes of ingredients and the method of preparation. However these reci-pes are not been passed to the currents generations and this can compromise the gastronomic culture. A local intervention is necessary to avoid the lost of this legacy
