From the First World War, the Italian government showed a keen interest in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. After the war, in a context of reconfiguration of Europe and diplomatic relationships, Italy fully invests this region and in particular Romania, a Latin country, in order to restore its prestige which is not recognized by the other victorious nations. Considered as a possible bridgehead of its influence in Eastern Europe, Romania was thus, during the 1920s, the object of many Italian enterprises, particularly in the cultural and economic fields.
