Internal temporal work migration in Russia: the need and possibility of studying social effects

Abstract

Some hypotheses of changing the role functions of members of households of temporary internal labor migrants in the Russian Federation are considered. A check was made of the necessity and approaches to the study of the social consequences of «otkhodnichestvo» in the form of a pilot sociological survey. According to the data obtained, an initial assessment of the consequences of this phenomenon has been carried out for the prospects for the demographic and social development of social groups in which temporary internal labor migration is widespread. Opportunities were identified and further research directions and methods proposed.
