Predictive Analysis of Grid Connected DFIG-based Wind Turbine Model under Normal and Abnormal Conditions
Abstract
The trend of wind energy generation is escalating across the globe with increasing interest in green energy production. Wind turbines utilize the free and unlimited reservoir of wind for energy generation, and the blades of wind turbines are used to convert this energy into variable rotational power. Doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is the most preferred type of generator to be used in wind energy conversion systems. The direction and speed of the wind vary concerning time scale that results in the random energy production. Therefore, the reliability and stability of the system are the fundamental requirements. In this research paper, vector control technique (VCT) is employed to regulate the stator flux and balanced flow of power. The main contribution of this research is towards the optimally designed wind turbine model associated with DFIG and calculation of the slip angle for the rotor as well as the grid. The current and voltage profile of the grid under normal and faulty condition is also investigated.
