Risk factors associated with the onset of high blood pressure in patients from N0 VII health area in Cienfuegos

Introduction: hypertension constitutes one of the main problems affecting public health. Modern society and its lifestyle conditions increase the presence of risk factors in people. Objective: to identify the risk factors of hypertension in patients from N0 VII health area in Cienfuegos municipality between September and December 2019. Method: an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out. The study target group consisted of 1,413 patients from the clinic N0 1 of the health area N0 VII in Cienfuegos municipality. The sample was chosen by probabilistic sampling and comprised 523 people. The variables used were: age, sex and occupation, risk factors for hypertension, personal pathological history, family pathological history, sedentary lifestyle and obesity, eating habits, smoking and alcoholism. Results: the 8,6 % of the patients were between 65 and 69 years of age. There was a predominance of the female sex occupying 53,3 %. 20 % were retired. The 31,5 % of the patients presented personal pathological antecedents as a risk factor, with a predominance of female sex with 90 patients, followed by personal pathological history. Conclusions: high genetic predisposition, associated comorbidities and modifiable risk factors in the population studied, increase the risk of hypertension.
