The practices of vernacularity or localizing Islamic scholarship have been conducted by many scholars of the Qur’an in Indonesia. One of them is Nadoman Nurul Hikmah by Hidayat Suryalaga. The uniqueness of this work lies in the way of translating the Qur'an into poetry or in Sundanese it is called pupujian (religious poetry). Through descriptive analysis, this research concludes that; First, Nadoman Nurul Hikmah's work is able to be classified as tarjamah tafsīriyah because in the translation process, Suryalaga added several sentences as explanations, such as asbabun nuzul and the stories of the companions. Second, Suryalaga translates the Qur'an without textually following the source language (the language of the Qur'an). Third, in several places, he also contextualizes by presenting the local wisdom of Sundanese culture and other people in general.
