Microwave assisted synthesis of Knoevenagel Derivatives using water as green solvent
Abstract
The synthetic work has been done by using the various substituted aromatic aldehydes and active methylene compound (Thiazolidine-2,4-dione) under microwave irradiation as a green synthetic technology using water as green solvent. After completion of reaction the products were separated, dried, and recrystallized from ethanol to obtained 84–91% yield. All these advantages make this methodology an alternative platform to the nonconventional method and also make it significant under the umbrella of environmentally greener and safer processes. Products are characterized by IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, mass spectral analysis and are in a state of high purity.
