A inclusão digital e o contexto brasileiro : uma experiência nos domínios de uma universidade
Abstract
This research analyses aspects of digital inclusion through a case study of the users of the Tabuleiro Digital telecentre at the Faculdade de Educação at the Universidade Federal da Bahia, Brazil (FACED/UFBA). The aim of this paper is to examine the types of digital inclusion provided at this telecentre in the light of the bibliography currently available. The specific aims are: contextualizing the information society, approaching the study of digital inclusion, analysing free software usability, and diagnosing the telecentre's user profile. The techniques used in the exploratory phase included structured user and project manager interviews, the analysis and storage of the data obtained, the report of direct observation, and document inventory. Surprisingly, our research revealed that most of the interviewees were young people and teenagers from low-income families who use the telecentre mostly for leisure purposes. The analysis also revealed that the type of digital inclusion in this telecentre is induced (technical).
