In the contemporary world, business conditions are changing rapidly. These changes affect all existing business models and the process of relationships between key market participants. The existing technological solutions for interpersonal and business communications, increasing requirements for the level of service and the speed of provision of the required services dictate the need for radical changes in approaches to building a business. Therefore, more and more companies come to understand the implementation of digital technologies and the transformation of the existing business models. The use of digital platforms is one of the areas of digitalization of the economy. This direction allows creating effective communications between economic agents, eliminating temporary, territorial and language barriers, increasing the efficiency of business processes and the competitiveness of national markets. Purpose identification of trends and directions in the development of digital platforms in the world’s and Russian practice. Methodology the article used the methods of scientific analysis used in economic research, used a systematic approach that provides a comprehensive research of the problem, comparative analysis and generalization. Results: approaches to the definition of a “digital platform” are systematized, information on the diversity of existing digital platforms is structured and systematized, and existing approaches to their classification are studied. Trends in the development of digital platform-forms in the global and Russian economies are revealed. Practical implications the information obtained will be useful for the relevant state bodies or company managers for developing the programs for the development of digital platforms or digitalization of an enterprise.
