Objectives Over the years, the figure of the master has undergone significant transformations. The reasons vary. With the announced title, we would like to offer the reader a reflection on the need for a master in contemporary education and a reflection on the identification of contemporary challenges in this area. All this may be an opportunity to rediscover the need for a master in the current school and academic reality. Material and methods The person of the master is the subject of interest in social sciences and, above all, in pedagogy. Therefore, the basic research material in this work is the literature relating to the person of the master. For the issues we are interested in here, content analysis and a hermeneutical approach were used to interpret the text, taking into account theoretical premises, cultural contexts and pedagogical challenges. Results The basic expression of care for future generations is upbringing and education. However, you don't become a champion on credit or on trial. Therefore, a master means a person teaching others by passing on messages (content), introducing them to the world of values and shaping competences and skills, including lifelong learning. Conclusions In upbringing and education, much depends on the teachers-educators themselves. When they are true champions, it will be easier for them to attract young people, and when they only practice their profession, it is difficult to expect positive results from their work. Being yourself and being a teacher (master) do not interfere with each other. The relationship of master and disciple is always a personal relationship.
