The feasibility and effectiveness of superior mesenteric artery Doppler ultrasonography in the diagnosis of necrotizing enterocolitis and other gastrointestinal pathologies in newborns were evaluated in this article. It was found that with in necrotizing enterocolitis presence in newborn indices of hemodynamics are outgoing of the bounds of norm and are typical for ischemic lesions of gastro - intestinal tract (elevated levels of PI and RI, Vps growth and Ved decrease). When functional gastrointestinal disorders are present the hemodynamic disorders are absent or temporary and insignificant. Authors concluded that the use of Doppler ultrasonography of superior mesenteric artery in infants with gastrointestinal pathology allows to establish the timely diagnosis of necrotizing enterocolitis and to prescribe adequate treatment.
