Os eleitores evangélicos são mais conservadores e autoritários?

Abstract

In the last two presidential elections, in 2018 and 2022, the evangelical electorate voted mostly for the candidate, JairBolsonaro. Many authors have attributed this pattern to the congruence of Bolsonaro's conservative and authoritarian values and those of the evangelical leaders with whom he has allied himself. However, there is still little research that has analysed thephenomenon at the level of public opinion. Are evangelicals really more conservative and authoritarian? This research answers that question with the most recent data from the 2022 Brazilian Electoral Study. The results show that evangelicals are more conservative than Catholics, other religions and atheists, but not necessarily more authoritarian.
