Adding Fe to Co/Ni-based electrocatalysis can effectively improve the OER activity. However, the adding method of Fe may greatly influence the enhancing efficiency. In this paper, iron is introduced to cobalt sulfide by ion exchange and magnetron sputtering, respectively. Compared with magnetron sputtering, the ion-exchanged electrocatalyst possesses more satisfactory OER activity after the electrochemical activation. The surface reconstruction of the Fe-added electrocatalysts during electrochemical activation were verified by the structural and electrochemical characterizations. It is thought that Fe-adding method can affect the process of electrochemical surface reconstruction, and then influence the formation of the OER-active species.
