INTRODUCTION: To evaluate the results and complications of pregnancy of mothers giving birth over 35 years of age. METHODS: Prenatal examinations and birth files of pregnant women age 20-34 and 35 years and older who gave birth between 2010-2015 were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS: Average age of advanced maternal age group pregnant women were found to be 40,7+-2.42 years (over 35 year-olds), whereas average age of the pregnant women at reproductive phase were deter¬mined as 26,69 +- 4.13 years (20-34 year-olds). Both groups did not have a history of alcohol during pregnancy but In advanced maternal group, 2.19 % smoking cases were revealed, whereas the number was 26.47 % for reproductive age group. Regular prenatal care rate of advanced age pregnancy was detected in 90.1 %, it was found to be 80.39 % in the 20-34 age group. Patients were evaluated for obstetric complications; The rate of preterm birth was 9.89 %, premature rupture of membranes rates was 5.49 %, oligohydramnios rates was 7.69 %, polyhydramnios was 2.19%. The same parameters in the control group were 16.6% for preterm labor, 29.4% for premature rupture of membranes, 13.7% for oligohydramnios and 3.92% for polyhydramnios. Patients were evaluated for need of neonatal intensive care, trauma and intrauterine growth retardation there was not a significant difference between the groups. 3 patients in advanced maternal age group (3.29%) had fetal abnormalities (Down syndrome) but the control group did not show any abnormality. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Regular antenatal care should be provided especially for older pregnancies to prevent maternal complications.
