This article analyzes the purpose of modern biotechnology in the food industry and agriculture. The concept, characteristics, and role of biotechnology are examined. Trends and main stages of biotechnology production are identified. The purpose and main directions of biotechnology in the food industry and agriculture are presented, its characteristics and benefits are discussed. Promising directions of biotechnology in the food industry and agriculture are described.
