La intimitat resguardada del poder
Abstract
No resulta senzill de condensar en un sol mot el fenomen de la transformació que ha estat un tret clau de la contemporaneïtat: la constant mutació del públic com a cosa pública, que no coincideix exactament amb la política, ni allò polític (n’és un pressupòsit i n’és l’expansió, el seu camp d’actuació i de realització); del públic en el sentit de la gent aglomerada en un moment donat, però també en diferents formes estables, inclosos els estats d’opinió; del publicista, qui actua amb el propòsit d’intervenir-hi. Aquesta mutació pública arrossega, al seu torn, el trastocament dels possibles o impossibles llocs on resguardar-se’n, l’àmbit privat i, dins, la intimitat. Joan Maragall desplega una gran varietat de reflexions a l’entorn d’aquest trasbals, al llarg de tota la seva presència pública –i de la que no ho és tant. No només el pensa, sinó que l’experimenta d’una manera molt viva des d’una peculiar singularitat. L’escriu. It is not easy to condense in just one term the phenomenon that has been key to contemporaneity: the constant mutation of the public sphere, in the sense of res publica, which does not coincide exactly with politics –it is a premise of it and implies its expansion, its area of action and of realization–; of the public at large, in the sense of people massed together at any one time, but in different stable forms also, including public opinion; of the publicist, who acts with the intention of interceding in it all. This public mutation, for its part, brings with it the disturbance of possible –or impossible– places of shelter, the private sphere (privacitat) and, within, privacy (intimitat). Joan Maragall offers a wide variety of reflections on that disturbance throughout his public –and not so public– career. It is not just something he thinks, but something he feels in a very acute way from a particular singularity. He writes it.
